yesterday I was with family.
we shared a meal, a few laughs.
then my aunt gave me an ornament.
an ornament that means more to me now
than it could ever mean. I'm not sure why,
but it was very heartwarming to receive it.
maybe I finally understand what is meant by,
"it's the thought that counts".
I didn't expect anything, and she included me.
Maybe I overthink things.. Correction,
I know I overthink things, but
it was beautiful to understand love
and consideration.
In fact, family means more to me now than it ever has.
We took grandmother home today,
and for the first time I saw her house for the unique treasure trove that it was.
and I wanted a camera to capture it,
and to conserve her as she was.
first I wanted to make her put on her recently purchased
black and gray striped skull zip up Wal Mart hoodie.
I love that woman, more and more because she'll never understand how beautiful
and crazy marvelous she really is.
the title is a dedication to her house, and all the many strange items
she has collected within her home.
Today mother and I rummaged about town,
in and out of various nearby cities and their local shops.
Traffic is inevitable, but so are memories.
I count my blessings.
I may not be perfect,
but I know that the grass will never be greener
than where I'm standing right now.
